I am fortunate to say that I am a part of the most giving, sincere, and tight-knight community on Youtube. Since I started my fragrance journey, I had no clue that I would meet so many wonderful, intelligent, and passionate people. As I write, I'm getting ready to meet up with my friend Carlos, who also happens to be a reviewer, and this is a motif among reviewers in the community. We all help one another, we work together, we support one another, and we share the same goal with equal passion and fervor.
In just four short years, I have managed to gain close to 30K followers and 5 million views on my YouTube channel. I consider this to be quite an achievement. However, it's always humbling to take a step back and know that all of this would not have been possible without all of the great followers on my channel who consistently tune in to my ramblings. It would be an understatement to say that I'm excited for what the next few years will bring. I can only imagine the fragrances I will discover, the people I will meet, and the opportunities that will present themselves to me.
Thank you all for all of your constant support. It means the world to me.
Chanel has put out some classic and iconic perfumes. Their repertoire and resume are things to be reckoned with. With some beauties in their standard line of perfumes (No. 5, Antaeus, Pour Monsieur, et. al.), it's difficult to imagine how they would up the quality and craftsmanship of their fragrances in their private and more exclusive line of fragrances. Chanel has truly put together a masterpiece with Sycomore.
You are greeted with the smell of warm and damp earth. The note of vetiver provides the fragrance with a natural and organic feel that, the likes of which, I've only experienced in one other fragrance. That fragrance being Encre Noire by Lalique. Sycomore is tame yet unapologetic. It speaks of profound class, yet there is also an unpolished nature about it. It's the fragrance that you don't fall in love with at first. You have to build a relationship with it. Since it was love at first sniff for me, I've only loved it more and more the more that I've worn it.
Once the vetiver begins to calm down, the base reveals some warm, rich resins that give off an exotic vibe. This is certainly not your traditional, generic, plain cologne. There is something enigmatic about Sycomore. It's a scent that truly needs to be experienced first handedly.
While I would love to wear this fragrance every day, its exclusive nature and price tag begs for formal wear. The winter is also when this fragrance shines. It will last over 10 hours on your skin, and it will produce a scent that radiates beyond an arm's length. If you're looking for something dark, deep, rich, and unapologetic that will get you noticed, look no further. Thank you for reading.
I'd like to begin by wishing everyone a happy belated Thanksgiving! On a day like today when much of the nation's population is out trying to snag a great deal, I have decided to keep my wallet closed and not add another bottle to my ever-expanding collection of fragrances. With nearly 600 bottles in my collection, it's easy to consider the addition of another bottle and to regard it as negligible. However, I decided to be thankful for what I have, and I stayed home with friends to make good conversation and stuff my face with the cornucopia of food laid out on my kitchen table.
Alright. I'll stop the self-pity now before it starts.
My scent of the day today is 1 Million Privee. After wearing this fragrance several times, I still can't get a grasp on what it reminds me of. It clearly possesses something that I have connected to a time when I was much younger, but I honestly just can't put my finger on it completely. Of all of the flankers coming out in the industry, it's refreshing to try one that isn't redundant or a clear attempt to milk the consumers' wallets by releasing a product inferior to the original. As a matter of fact, I would consider this an enhanced and more robust version of the original (which I also enjoy quite a bit). All in all, I think this fragrance did pretty well today, and it was well received.
Another highlight was getting the chance to make a recommendation for a friend who's getting married in a few months. I had her try a few fragrances, and she loved Aventus for Her over everything else. Days like these validate the appeal of what many would consider overhyped fragrances. I say that people sing high praise for them for a reason. Not much to my surprise, when I sprayed Aventus on skin, the compliments started flowing in! I made sure to get her reaction on camera! I will be sure to include it in a future video!

So... I was recently interviewed on Fragrantica.com by my good friend Daniel Barros, and I never expected to receive the amount of attention that I received! Now, I won't go as far as spoiling what is spoken about and covered in the article, but I will mention that I was interviewed on my upcoming book, my YouTube channel, and the way that I use fragrance in my classroom! This interview was so much fun to do, and I want to take another moment to thank Daniel from the bottom of my heart for giving me this wonderful opportunity.
I first encountered Fragrantica.com several years ago when I was redirected there upon watching a YouTube video. It was a video on the channel Hiroyoruzuka, and the YouTuber, Miguel, mentioned fragrances like Chergui, L'air du Desert Marocain, Duro, and Original Santal. Being as though I had never heard of these fragrances before, I took a particular interest in discovering what they are all about. A quick Google search brought me to Fragrantica, and I remember curiosity enveloping me, and I ended up getting a few samples on LuckyScent.com. A few days later, when they arrived, I remember being in olfactory heaven. It's hard to wrap my mind around the fact that I have now had the opportunity to be interviewed on this perfume lovers' bible that initially got me into the world of niche fragrances. Thank you all for taking the time to read the article, and if you comment below the article with the hashtag #imasubscriber, I will enter you in the giveaway for a chance to win an official sample set of 10 fragrances by the brand Commodity! Thank you for reading and entering!

More than a year ago, I shot a video in which I share my top 10 most complimented fragrances. With each fragrance, I made sure to share a story of a compliment that I received while wearing that fragrance. The majority of comments on that video are so overwhelmingly positive, but unfortunately, there are also a few skeptics. In addition to appreciating a fragrance for its artistry and aesthetic merit, I'll be the first to admit that I also love a good compliment. After all, compliments boost our confidence and brighten up our day.
What I found to be rather disheartening is sifting through the comments of people claiming that they have never received a compliment on a fragrance. I found this upsetting and a little hard to believe. It seems to me that there is some unnoticed yet significant underlying reason why someone wouldn't have received a compliment on a fragrance after years of wearing fragrances. It goes without saying (and will not come as a surprise to those who follow my YouTube page) that my most complimented scent, by far, is Creed's Aventus.
My continued success with this fragrance is what prompted this blog post. In addition to having worn this fragrance for many years, I also wore it on my wedding day and all throughout my honeymoon. My wife even went through the trouble of getting me an Aventus cake on our wedding day! To answer the question on everyone's mind: No, it did not have pineapple filling!
I wear Aventus to work, I wear it to friends' houses, I wear it to parties, and I have even worn it to bed. So, due to the frequency with which I wear it, the odds are that I'm bound to get complimented on it. However, I'm convinced that there is something about Aventus that gets me compliments that I wouldn't be able to get with a different fragrance even if I tried. Here are a few compliments I've received:
On one occasion, I was in the hallway at my job when one of the secretaries walked right past me. As she approached me, she asks, "Is that you who smells so good?" As I tried to retain my humility, I respond with a quick "I don't know," and she goes about her way. A minute or so later, she walks past me again, this time, going in the opposite direction. She compliments me again and even asks me to write down the name of the fragrance along with the website from which it can be purchased and even how much it costs.
On another occasion, a separate coworker told me that she rode the elevator a few extra stops because my scent lingered in the small space, and she couldn't get enough of it. This incident reminded me of the time when another coworker stood inches away from me. When I noticed the proximity, she defends herself by saying, "If you're wondering why I'm standing so close to you, it's because you smell SO GOOD!"
I know what you're thinking by now: "Wow. You have very friendly coworkers!" Well, I guess I do! Despite the amount of compliments that I have received from Aventus, I don't think it would've all been possible if I hadn't conducted myself with confidence, a friendly demeanor, a cheerful disposition, and a social proclivity. For those you seek compliments on your fragrances, my advice to you is: Wear your fragrance like a glove. Wear it and don't let it wear you. Also, initiate the complimenting! Every action has an equal but opposite reaction! People compliment those who are likely to compliment.
